Senator Tory Rocca

Senator Tory Rocca is anindependent voice for the citizens he represents, not beholden to special interests but to the interests of those he represents. Rocca has spent his career fighting for Michigan workers and job providers. He recently served as a member of the Sterling Heights Automotive Task Force, which was dedicated to saving Chrysler's Sterling Heights Assembly Plant. He is also a sponsor of newly enacted Michigan law helping Ford Motor Company create jobs to build transaxles for electric vehicles at its Van Dyke Assembly Plant in Sterling Heights.

As a member of the Michigan House, Rocca has continually fought for taxpayers, voting against recent increases to Michigan's personal income tax, and helping to repeal the state's ill-conceived tax on services.

Rocca believes public servants should be held accountable to their constituents and has practiced what he's preached. Rocca has maintained a 100 percent attendance record and has worked to make sure that public officials share in the sacrifices that so many of Michigan's residents are making during these difficult economic times. Rocca voted to cut the pay of state legislators by 10 percent, end retirement health care benefits for state legislators, and suspend all contributions that the state makes to legislators' retirement plans. He also voted to dock the pay of state legislators who don't show up for work.

Rocca believes a change in direction is needed in Lansing for a state government dominated by special interests.
