Harvest-time safetyFall is a beautiful time of year in Michigan, but we need to take extra precautions as we travel our roads. I’ve released this public service announcement to encourage everyone to be mindful of farmers harvesting their crops for winter.
Summer reading contestEach summer I host a summer reading contest and invite the winners to Lansing to be "Junior Senators" for the day. This year, the students came in on September 24th and we had a great time. Read my blog about the day here.
Pavlov co-sponsors call for federal balanced budget amendmentIt is sobering to realize that our national debt is now more than $18 trillion and growing.
I have co-sponsored Senate Bill 306, which would enter Michigan into an interstate compact to petition Congress to adopt a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Read more about it here.
Senate bills promote firearm safetyI recently supported legislation to exempt gun safety devices from state sales and use taxes.
Senate Bills 364-365 would make products such as gun safes, lock boxes, and trigger and barrel locks more affordable for all gun owners. Safe storage can help prevent accidents and potential firearms thefts.
The bills have been sent to the House Committee on Tax Policy.
