Senator Dave Hildenbrand E-Newsletter

JANUARY 2018

Happy New Year

As 2017 comes to an end I would like to take this opportunity to thank the greater Grand Rapids community for the incredible honor and privilege it is to serve in the Michigan Senate and represent your interests.

We have much to be thankful for in Michigan – a beautiful state; a better economy; and generous and caring family, friends, and neighbors.

But many new challenges will face Michigan in 2018 and I stand ready to continue our work to rebuild and improve our great state.

My biggest legislative accomplishment in 2017 was securing the funding for two new state veterans home in Michigan – one in Grand Rapids and one in the Detroit area. These will be modern, state-of the-art facilities that will better care for our state’s veterans. I will continue to monitor the progress of these homes as final location and design work continues.

After the New Year, we will quickly begin work on the 2018-19 state budget. As the Senate budget chair I am intricately involved with this process each year and remain committed with getting the state budget balanced and completed by July 1 in an open and transparent budget process.

Again, thank you for the incredible opportunity to serve as your state senator and from my family to yours, I wish you a joyous 2018!
